Election Day

November 6, 2008

My sister and I spent most of the day at a polling location in Port Richmond, with the occasional breaks to knock on doors and get snacks.  I expected the worst from this spot in Philadelphia; it is not know for it’s fondness of African Americans.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I had a great day meeting voters and talking to both the Republican and Democratic Committee members who were also working.

The best part of the day, however was arriving home right as the polls were closing to see that Pennsylvania was being colored in Blue. Shortly followed by Ohio, which pretty much ended it. It felt so good to have been a tiny part of this campaign.

So, here is a photo from the inside of the Fishtown canvassing office.  These people are amazing.  I hope everyone there (and all the other people that worked so hard knocking on doors and making phone calls) are taking a well-deserved vacation right now.

Obama Rally

October 23, 2008

A couple weekends ago Barack Obama held 4 rallies in Philadelphia. One in Germantown, one in North Philly, one by Temple and one in West Philly.  We went to the one in West Philly, along with 10,000 other people.  It was awesome, although the only thing I could see was the backs of people’s heads, or their children perched on shoulders.  I was also only able to bring the tiny camera, but I still took a handful of photos.

Katie and Drew

September 16, 2008

We fell in love with Katie and Drew the first time we saw them.  They weren’t planning on having a wedding photographer at all, but after talking to Carina and I for a few minutes, they decided to let us.  I loved their wedding! They looked great and were so laid back about everything.  There was a quick ceremony in the park full of Katie’s crazy Canadian relatives, then a reception in the sanctuary at Fleisher Art Memorial. It sounds backwards, but it was perfect.

Plus, I have to love anyone that has their dogs in the wedding party.

Gwen and Ken

May 29, 2008

Gwen and Ken got married a few weeks ago and Carina and I were lucky enough to be the photographers for the event. The ceremony was in a gorgeous old synagogue on Broad Street and the reception was near Rittenhouse. It felt like our first real “Philadelphia” wedding, complete with Love Park and City Hall photos. Here are a few images from the evening.

Unbridaled – Wrap Up

February 22, 2008

Here are a few images from the expo.  There was so much good food, cute rollergirls and awesome dresses.  We also made a lot of connections with local business folk, which was so great.   We had a great time and can’t wait until the next Unbridaled event.
